„MACBA Back to the 4“ Contest in Barcelona, Spain | Video Recap

With Dustin Dollin jumping down the famed MACBA blocks, and Marius Syvanen on the mic, the stage was set for another epic „Back to the 4“ contest in Europe’s skateboarding Mecca, Barcelona. La Policia might have shut down the session at the OG location, but the indoor backup setup let the skating rage on ‚til dawn (well maybe not „‚til dawn,“ but you know how they do it in Spain). View on!

„Back to the 4 became a reality on September 7th! Even though the Ciutat Vella district denied us permission just days before the event, we quickly found a new spot in Poble Nou and recreated the original 4 blocks inside a warehouse. This didn’t stop real skating from going down – the real hype was there.

Huge thanks to everyone who came out and brought the energy. Special shoutout to Monster Energy, Volcom Stone, and of course SB Ramps for building everything in under 20 hours!

Featured skaters: Dustin Dollin, Aurora Steri, Tony Alves, Vinicius Santos, Ema Boch, Aurelien Giraud, Marek Zaprazny, Alex Risvad, Agustin Figueroa, Harry Lintel, Jorge Simoes, Ulises Choque, Luca Mas Rosales, Melisa Ruiz, Inti Baked, Mauro Iglesias, Jhank Gonzales, Giovanni Vianna, Thanos Panou, Eniz Fazliov, Juan Carlos Aliste, Dor Abuu, Tallys.

35th North and Nike SB Team Up with Skate Like a Girl for ‚Skate To The Plate 24′ at Mariners‘ Stadium

The crew at 35th North, one of Seattle’s finest skate shops, recently linked up with Nike SB, Skate Like a Girl and the Seattle Mariners for an afternoon of ripping the Mariners‘ T-Mobile Park. A ramp at the ballpark? Sounds like a good time! Take a look:

The day was filled with skating, demos, lessons, and of course, home runs inside the park. But to make the already epic day even better, every ticket holder from 35th North’s Skate To The Plate ticket package also walked out with a one of a kind Ken Griffey Jr. deck.

Every kid in the stadium was able to sign up for lessons and they even had a 7th-inning best trick demo. Solid afternoon if you ask me! If you haven’t watched the recap yet, press play. This was a great example of rad people doing rad things through skateboarding! Never gets old.

How Skateboarding to His Audition Landed Breckin Meyer His Classic Role in ‚Clueless‘

Everybody skates! Or, at least everybody used to skate. And actor Breckin Meyer is no exception. In fact, his roots in skateboarding are inevitably what ended up landing his role as Travis Birkenstock in the iconic 90s film, Clueless and the story as to why is pretty awesome. Take a look:

In a recent interview on the „Still Here Hollywood“ podcast, Breckin Meyer talks about skating miles from his place in North Hollywood to the Paramount Studios for his Clueless audition. But as you’ll learn, showing up with that sweaty, greasy hair after pushing all those miles across town actually worked in his favor. They needed a skater, and that’s exactly what they got! And let’s be honest… could you imagine anyone else playing Travis Birkenstock? I sure couldn’t.

If you’re even slightly familiar with that trek from North Hollywood to the Paramount studios, you know it’s no small feat. Mr. Horowitz (Cher’s dad in the film) might say „Everywhere in LA takes 20 minutes“ in that one scene—which is obviously a lie in itself—but as far as the real world is concerned, he was sorely mistaken when it comes to Meyer’s audition journey.

I just thought this story was pretty funny, and more importantly, I think it’s rad that Breckin was really a skateboarder. Just a kid in Hollywood trying to make his dreams come true! All that pushing paid off, though, you know? From skating the streets to ripping the big screen, let this be a reminder to just go for it—whatever „it“ might be. Really, though…let’s see some more Travis Birkenstock clips! Dude ripped at vert.

Violet and Spitfire Take Over Tompkins Square Park in Strobeck’s New Video ‚The Whole World Is Watching‘

It can be hard to leave Tompkins Square Park sometimes, so Strobeck along with some of the Violet and Spitfire squads filmed an entire new video there. Settle in and feast your eyes on ‚The Whole World Is Watching‘ below.

The clip features: Efron Danzig, Auguste Bouznad, Tenzin Miyahira, Blanca King, Troy Gipson, Patrick O’Mara, Kris Brown, Mike Ward, Seven Strong, Kader Sylla, Kyle Teh, Caleb Barnett, Orion Curtis, Rico Abdou, Sage Thomas, Quinn Bately, Ari Marcopoulos and Violet Cheverez ripping around one of skateboarding’s most beloved „warm up“spots.

If you’ve ever been to Tompkins, you know the vibes.

Honestly, the fact that the entire video was filmed at the same spot had me curious at first. At just under 10 minutes, I wondered if it would pack the same kind of punch we’ve grown to expect from Strobeck edits, but I have to say—this squad absolutely killed it.

Not only is the edit stacked with bangers for our viewing pleasure, the best part is, it genuinely made me want to go skate! I won’t say the possibilities are necessarily endless at this rugged little paradise, but there are certainly plenty of opportunities to get rad at Tompkins.

Let’s just say I was pleasantly surprised. If you’re ever in NYC, stop by and see this place for yourself. I’d bet some money that you’ll see a few familiar faces there getting theirs like we witnessed here.

Explore the Not-So-Ordinary Life of Evan Mock in the New ‚Skate Tales‘ Episode

Madars Apse catches up with Mr. Evan Mock in the latest installment of Red Bull’s ‚SKATE TALES‘ to rip around the streets of New York and discuss everything from skateboarding to fashion, celebrities, life in the city, traveling…shoot, the list goes on. Mock really is a true Renaissance man! Dive in:

Those who know Evan Mock know he leads quite an impressively charmed life. He’s a skateboarder, a surfer, a business owner, and one of the rare humans in our (not-so-little-anymore) subculture who has been able to seamlessly blend everything from high-fashion and celebrity friendships with skating the streets, hopping in the van and constantly stacking clips all the same.

What’s even more impressive is that he’s genuinely a star in each of these worlds, effortlessly hanging with the best of the best and proving he’s one of them all the same. The way he casually mentions attending the Met Gala and its exclusive after-parties while enjoying some noodles and rice—after a rad skate session, no less—speaks volumes. At least in my opinion. It’s a subtle (yet unmistakable) A-Lister attitude. Ha!

He has a lot on his plate right now. In fact, it seems like he always does, but as he mentions in the clip, „It’s what keeps me sane.“

I’ve always been a fan of Evan and really enjoyed this episode. On paper, it’s easy to feel a little envious when you’re on the outside looking in at this extraordinary life of his, but I wouldn’t say it’s envy as much as…inspiration, you know? Blending these worlds can be super difficult—you have to be pretty fearless—but his natural, cool, calm demeanor makes him the perfect candidate to make it happen.

Like the description mentions: „If ever skateboarding had a man of the moment it is Evan Mock: right here, right now.“
