Vans and Carpet Co. Tease Exciting ‚Old Skool‘ Collaboration for Next Year

Vans and Carpet Co. are joining forces on a special ‚Old Skool‘ collaboration set to drop early next year and recently teased them for the first time on Instagram. The hype is already real. Just when you thought the shoe news was put to bed for the rest of the year… here we are! Take a look:

The caption simply says, „1977 pairs made for a reason!“ which is certainly fitting, but 1977 pairs of shoes isn’t that much, you know? All that tells me is these things are clearly going to be super limited and might be a little hard to cop. Get your affairs in order—these won’t last!

While the news of the shoes themselves is exciting enough, you gotta watch the video they made to hype the collaboration up. Peep it below. Can you name all the sneaky cameos? Absolutely hilarious. Yes, the nailed it.

I’m always down for a funny skit, so this was a real unexpected treat, if you ask me.

Well, in one of the captions, Vans mentions that the shoes are „coming soon“ but I have seen photos of people wearing them in their stories. We’ll just have to wait and see. But like I said, if you’re hoping to secure a pair yourself, stay on it!

Otherwise, what else can we say?

Be safe out there tonight and have a Happy New Year!

DC Skateboarding Ends the Year with Heavy-Hitting New Video ‚No Big Deal‘

With Brian Panebianco handling the edit, and a cast of heavy hitters like Josh Kalis, John Shanahan, Lucien Clarke, Kevin Bilyeu, Will Marshall, Jahmir Brown, Thaynan Costa, Masaki Hongo, Shintaro Hongo, Luca Gozzo, Francisco Rios, and Anthony Rosado, DC’s latest video offering ‚No Big Deal‘ couldn’t have come at a better time. What a way to close out the year! Take a look:

John Shanahan kicks things off with a bang and really sets the tone for the rest of the video. This dude lives and breathes DC and has been keeping it real since day one. I also love how low-key talented he is at skating transition! Sneaky all-terrain killer.

The rest of the squad comes out swinging throughout, including the one and only Josh Kalis who is still looking as good as ever on the board. Just wouldn’t be a DC video without Kalis in the mix.

Well, the new year is pretty much here. Just when you thought all the brands were resting up and plotting for 2025, little nuggets like this keep popping up. Love to see it. Just can’t keep these dudes out the streets! Thank you, skateboarding.

Spend some time in the comments on YouTube if you get a chance. The love for DC is still so real, and I’m here for it. Their team has certainly gone through some heavy changes, and there’s obviously a recognizable theme to be found here, but what can ya do? I’ve been saying 2025 might officially be the year big puffy shoes truly make their return… edits like this are making me think it just might be.

Regardless, let’s see what this squad brings to the table next year. We’ll see you there.

Deza Skateboards New Full Length Video out of Mexico

This one’s packed with action from around the world. that first part from David Borges is going to knock your socks off and set the tone. It’s top notch skateboarding all the way through to the last part with Erick Silva. We got some words from Deza owner Shadi Charbel below the video.

We asked Deza’s owner Shadi Charbel to give us the lowdown on everything about this video and brand. Please read on, it’s well worth your time!

„We started filming for this video right when the pandemic started back in 2020, which was the very same year my friend Flo Marfaing decided to work with me and started riding for Deza Skateboards. The main idea of the skits was brought by a friend, Jesus Guerrero (IG: @elchuyesmicarnal) and his idea was based on me not being able to skate anymore and he wanted me to appear on the video somehow. We wrote a bunch of different ideas that we could film to make it happen. We had a great time filming the skits. I have a friend that is a cop and let me borrow his uniform to be the security guard, another friend of mine works for Fedex and let us borrow his van.

Right at the end, we didn’t have any more ideas for Erick Silvas‘ intro and suddenly my pitbull Madonna got crazy sick and passed away. Erick loved my dog and since he had filmed some clips with Madonna just to make a quick video for his social media, we ended up using all that and filmed a little more to make it fit in the actual video pretending that he was dreaming of her.

About the main intro, I’ve built a workshop right in my house all based on printing decks, clothing, wheels and Jesus wanted to use it all to introduce all the skaters and we all loved the outcome of it. Great memories from all those days of filming!

About the name of the video, NADA ES PARA SIEMPRE (nothing is forever), the idea is mine and it’s based on me not being able to do what I love the most, which was skating due to my knee surgeries. I pretty much had to accept the fact that I was never going to be able to become the skater I dreamed of at the age of 27. I believe that we all have to be prepared to let go when the time comes, and I loved the idea of expressing that message to everyone.

The first animation in the video is inspired by me and was made by my friend Luis Ponce.

This is Deza’s only full length video they’ve made. All Flo Marfaing’s part was filmed by Jordan Stanley over in Europe, mostly Spain. Danny Ruiz is the newest rider and he got his part filmed by his homies in El Paso, Texas. Richard Moore’s part was filmed 100% in the USA. The rest of the video was filmed all over Mexico.

Pepe Baeza @pepegangsta filmed and edited the video and skits.

Video Recap of the Abloh Invitational in Miami

Virgil Abloh Securities and Cactus Jack came together for the third annual Virgil Abloh Invitational Dec 7 in Miami, Florida, and good thing for us, Davonte Jolly was there to document the absolute destruction from the likes of Dashawn Jordan, Zion Wright, Ishod Wair, Jamie Foy, Eric Koston and more. Where else are you going to have Kareem Campbell and Chad Muska hanging out too and giving out cash for tricks? Check this one out.

Everyone was ripping, but Dashawn Jordan is on another level in this video. Miami was definitely the place to be on this weekend. That kicker to boat looks to be about the toughest thing to skate, but the tricks that Ishod, Foy and Dashawn put down are nuts.

Asics Skateboarding Shares Sleek New Colorway of Gel-Vickka Pro in Black and Graphite Grey

Asics Skateboarding recently shared a sleek new colorway of its popular Gel-Vickka Pro model in Black/Graphite Grey on Instagram and at first glance, they look super easy on the eyes. Classic aesthetic meets modern performance! Take a look:

They might look simple and minimalistic, but if you’re like me, that’s exactly what I look for in a skate shoe. I don’t need any bells and whistles—just give me a strong shoe built for skateboarding.

Asics might be new to the skate game, but they continue to do things the right way, as far as I’m concerned. I really appreciate how they’re setting the stage for a handful of skateboarders who genuinely deserve it, but might get overlooked at times, too. And honestly, all the shoes I’ve seen so far look great.

If you want some of the nitty-gritty details, let me save you a trip. Peep what the crew at Asics has to say about the shoe below:

„The GEL-VICKKA™ PRO shoes is inspired by the VICKKA™ training shoe from the 1970s. Its original design focus was to help increase stability during complex training movements. Today, its revamped with a skate-specific functionality. The upper’s forefoot features a one-piece construction that helps reduce tearing. Its sockliner design is based on the movement analysis that occurs while skating. This component applies different levels of pressure on the inside and outside to help promote a better center of gravity and stability. Lastly, our GEL™ technology is strategically placed in the heel to help decrease the impact of hard landings.“

See, nitty-gritty.

I was curious to see how many skate shops across the globe were carrying these online, and to my pleasant surprise, there were way more than I realized! That just means they’re all available in-store as well, so as always, if you’re feeling these just roll down to your local and see them for yourself.

Admittedly, I’ve yet to try a pair. But that’ll change sooner than later. Until then, I’ll just keep watching the drops happen and see what this crew hits us with in the new year.
