Enzo Kurmaske, Max Palmer, Cyrus Bennet, Andrew Wilson and Others Absolutely Deliver in New Edit

First of all—Merry Christmas, ya’ll! Second of all—when you see names like Enzo Kurmaske, Aidan Olmstead, Max Palmer, Nelly Morville, Noah Mahieu, Powell Terrel, Big T, Cyrus Bennet and Andrew Wilson mentioned in an edit, you stop what you’re doing and watch.

Ryan Mettz recently shared this new edit on his YouTube of this entire squad lighting up the streets, and it’s the perfect little Christmas present for us all to enjoy today. Press play and then go enjoy those holiday sessions!

The clip might start with some brutal (yet, sort of comical) slams, but things heat up pretty quickly. Every single one of these skateboarders constantly brings something fresh to the table and there’s really never a dull moment when they’re out there in the streets doing their thing.

Enzo Kurmaske is quickly becoming one of my favorites these days. And I’ve always been a huge fan of Andrew Wilson, Cyrus and of course, Max Palmer. Like I said—when I see their names, I stop and pay attention.

Whatever your plans are today, I hope you can get in a session with your friends and family one way or another. I thought this ripping edit might help assist with the stoke. You know the deal! Schools are closed, industrial business parks are ready to rip and all the high-bust spots that you typically don’t even think twice about are yours for the taking today.

Anyways… what are you still doing here!? I’m leaving this one short and sweet today. Grab your Christmas complete and hit the streets.

Tony Hawk Announces Indefinite Hiatus for ‚Hawk vs. Wolf‘ Podcast in 2025

There might be room for pretty much everyone to have a voice in this wildly vast digital universe we all live in these days, but that doesn’t mean they’re all making a difference. That said, many folks do and have, but sometimes it’s hard to maintain.

Tony Hawk recently hopped on Instagram sharing the unfortunate news that his and Jason Ellis‘ podcast, ‚Hawk Vs. Wolf‘ will be on „indefinite hiatus as of 2025.“ Check the post and some words from Tony below explaining why.

View the original article to see embedded media.

Here’s the message from Tony:

„Our Hawk vs. Wolf podcast will be on indefinite hiatus as of 2025. The last few years of making these shows have been a transformative journey of insightful conversations, shared vulnerability and consistent laughter, and I am forever grateful to Jason for his time and support. I believe that we created something uniquely entertaining in a space rife with mediocrity. But it seems that we are unable to effectively navigate Big Algorithms in order to find a larger audience and the necessary growth to attract consistent sponsors. Jason and I devoted ourselves to make the best show we can, but it is not financially tenable in its current form. We tried, and kept trying even when it cost us our own money to produce the show. Thank you to everyone that listened, watched, liked and subscribed (and described) to HvW; all of your enjoyment and feedback encouraged us to push through the many challenges as we tried to find our way. It has been a privilege to host so many inspiring guests, and an honor to collaborate with Jason all these years.Perhaps a new audience will discover these recordings (through free will?) and give us hope for a comeback. Until then, the future is unwritten. We have one more show to drop. It is arguably our best yet.“

From famous actors and comedians, to legendary musicians, rappers, artists, athletes, influencers, major players in the action sports world, and of course, skateboarders, there was such an impressive variety of guests on Hawk Vs. Wolf through the years. You really never knew who to expect, which was honestly a big part of what made it so rad.

Although the list is way too long for me to mention, I will throw a few of our recent favorite episodes below in case you want to carve out some time or build yourself a little playlist.

As Tony mentioned, maybe they’ll be back? In the meantime, revisit some of these gems below and lurk their YouTube channel

Watch: Nicole Hause Drops a ‚Mixtape‘ Edit Featuring Her Favorite Clips Over the Past Few Years

Nicole Hause is an absolute ripper and just dropped a rad „Mixtape“ edit featuring some of her favorite clips from the past few years. It’s actually super sick to see her progressing right in front of our faces like this! She’s been charging lately and we know 2025 will be a big year for her. Settle in and press play.

„From going on my first filming trip in 2018 to getting my own color-way with Nike SB, these are all the best skate moments in between,“ Nicole wrote.

This is some serious full-circle stuff here! Think about how gnarly that is. Getting your own signature Nike SB Dunk is no small feat, especially a bold colorway like she dropped. Love to see it.

You can’t deny Nicole deserves everything she’s been getting lately. Riding for Real is a huge deal all the same, and she’s out there holding her own with the best of ‚em! If anyone deserves a spot in the van right now, it’s Hause.

Love them or hate them, but her Dunks flew off skate shop shoe walls and I think it’s rad that she took the approach she did with those. Originality is important in skateboarding and Nicole continues to prove how true she knows this is. She’s been all over this year, too! From the streets to backyard ramps, skateparks and everywhere in between. Full speed ahead!

Oh yeah, and she nailed it with the song. Just saying. Not sure if it’s supposed to be ironic and goofy or serious, but honestly, I’m backing it either way. Yeah, Nicole!

How To Start Skateboarding as an Adult

Whoever said, „You can’t teach an old dog new tricks,“ obviously wasn’t familiar with skateboarding. Our beloved pastime isn’t just for kids and teens—just ask dudes like Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero and Lance Mountain, for example. And the best part is, I’m barely scratching the surface with these names! That list goes on and on.

With all of that said, it’s hard to deny that most skateboarders do, in fact, get into it at a younger age. But the good news is, it’s never too late to learn! Whether you’re interested in learning how to skate as a way to stay active, impress your kids or simply push yourself in a fun and challenging way, learning to skate as an adult can be super rewarding. That’s why we’re here! Alright, let’s get rolling:

Understanding the Basics

Before you even step on a board, it’s pretty important to understand some of the basics, like knowing the parts that make a complete skateboard what it is, for example.

I know some of these might be obvious, but bear with us here. Everyone starts somewhere! The deck is, well, the wooden plank that we ride. I’m sure we all know that one. The trucks are the T-shaped pieces of metal that attach to your board with hardware. It’s also what you attach your wheels and bearings to. Your bearings are the small metal rings that go inside your wheels and make your board roll. And wheels are … wheels!

Boom. Now that we got that out of the way, we can dig a little deeper.

Choosing the Right Gear Is Essential

Despite your age, as a beginner, having the right gear can make a huge difference in your skateboarding journey from day one. More importantly, using the brands that skateboarders have trusted for decades doesn’t hurt either. Here are a few things you should consider grabbing before you start:

First and foremost—your skateboard. The best advice I can give anyone is walking into your local skate shop and asking as many questions as you want. Skate shop employees are full of knowledge and can cater to all your specific needs. Simply put—avoid Target and Walmart completes! Don’t search for skateboards on Amazon! Hit your local skate shop. If you start off with the good stuff, it’ll make all the difference in the world.

Secondly, a helmet and pads are also something to consider—at the very least a helmet. You don’t need me to tell you how important it is to protect your head, and if I’m being completely honest, you are going to fall. It’s just a part of the process! But it’s also what builds resilience. And I’ll tell you what, it’ll give you a ton of added confidence early on, which is a major bonus.

Lastly, I’d suggest investing in a good pair of skate shoes. Trust me, this will be huge in the long run. You want shoes that provide the grip and support needed for skateboarding, and some non-skate shoes out there simply aren’t designed for the wear and tear that comes with skating. Just something to consider.

Where’s the Best Place to Practice?

So you have your board, your shoes … your set. Now where do you actually go to practice? Choosing the right environment to practice is key to your progress, as well as building confidence along the way. I’d suggest somewhere with smooth ground, somewhat isolated and comfortable, both physically and mentally.

If you live somewhere with a driveway or a flat sidewalk, these can be great places to start in the comfort of your own home. Maybe you have a nice slab of cement in the backyard? Regardless, when you’re first starting out, it’s best to take things slow. Just stand on the board. Push a bit. Whatever feels comfy.

Once you’re a little more comfortable on your board, you can start exploring places like empty parking lots that might offer little street obstacles to start messing around. At the very least, it’s somewhere outside the comfort of home.

Related: 20 Of The Best Skateparks In The World

And, of course, once you really start to build up some courage, you can head to your local skatepark and start exploring new terrain. Many skateparks have designated areas for beginners, but I’ll tell you what—simply being there and seeing it all will help you progress much faster. Feel the stoke and get in on the action!

Don’t Be Discouraged Starting With the Basics

Whether you’re at home learning how to push and balance, in an empty parking lot practicing ollies and flip tricks, or confidently rolling around the skatepark, I’d still suggest taking it slow and starting with the basics.

For example—what’s your stance? Are you regular-footed (which means your left foot is at the top of your board) or goofy-footed (right foot forward). If you’re unsure, don’t stress! Simply stand on your board and find a stance that feels comfortable. Boom!

Related: Skateboarding 101: How To Drop In with Ease

Many people will tell you, „There are no rules in skateboarding! Do what you want!“ But let me just say that there are some unwritten rules out there that all beginners should know about. A big one is pushing correctly.

You want to practice pushing with your back foot while keeping your front foot on the board. If it feels uncomfortable, maybe switch up your stance. Pushing with your front foot is playfully considered a no-no. You don’t want a skateboarder at the park to joke because you’re pushing „mongo.“ You can thank me later.

Finding your stance, learning to balance and push, beginning to practice how to ollie, and eventually learning how to drop-in is a great place to start! Trust me, everything will start to naturally follow after that.

Learning From Other Skateboarders

Skateboarding is hard. There’s no beating around the bush. But that’s literally what makes it so rewarding. That said, learning the basics can be way easier and more enjoyable with some guidance.

Do you have friends or family who skate? Co-workers? Mutual acquaintances? Whatever! If you know someone who skates, I’d say that’s the best place to start. Never be afraid to ask them for tips and advice along the way.

If you weren’t able to check any of the boxes above, that’s fine. Many cities have skate lessons, private classes or experienced instructors who offer lessons for beginners of all ages. It’s a great option to learn the basics safely and confidently. You’ll see the progression, guaranteed.

Lastly, don’t forget that we live in a digital age! There are so many skateboarders on YouTube, TikTok and social media in general who offer countless tutorials for beginners. Usually for free! Do a little research. I bet you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Just Stay Motivated!

I’m 34 years old, and I’ve been skating for two decades now (some days that might be questionable, but this isn’t about me). My point is I understand that learning to skateboard as an adult can be challenging, but like anything, staying motivated is key to your progress.

A good way to stay motivated and track your progress is to set some small, achievable goals! Like we mentioned earlier—start small. Like learning to balance, push, turn… whatever it is. Also, I’d suggest celebrating every milestone along the way. You deserve it. You’re road to radness is looking good!

Most importantly, just know that consistency is key, just like everything else in life that’s challenging. Try your best to practice as often as possible, even if you’re just dorking around for a few minutes every day. The more you practice, the more comfortable you’ll become on your board and the more confident you’ll become!

Hey, just remember that I referred to it as your „skateboarding journey“ because that’s exactly what it is—a journey. It takes time, patience, and plenty of persistence, but what doesn’t? You will fall, sure. You will make tons of mistakes, of course. (Even your favorite pros aren’t perfect!) The point is, that’s all part of the process. Embrace each challenge as an opportunity to learn and grow. Aside from learning tricks, that’s a huge part of what makes skateboarding so rad—all the mental health benefits.

So what have we learned? Skateboarding as an adult is not only possible but also incredibly rewarding. It’s a great way to stay active, challenge yourself, connect with people … it’s just the greatest thing in the world. No argument. Hit your local shop, set up a board, gear up, and start your skateboarding journey today. Enjoy it!

How To Clean Your Skate Shoes and Make Them Last Longer

Skate shoes are a funny thing—they’re made of high-quality materials, have great cushioning to protect your feet, are usually expensive—yet at the end of the day, they’re made to be destroyed. As skaters, we know this is going to happen eventually, but, like most of us, if you don’t have an endless supply of money, you should consider taking these basic steps to make them last longer. We’ve included basic skate shoe cleaning tips, too, because, as they say, „Look good, feel good, skate good.“ And as always, support your local skateshop when it is time for new shoes!

Shoo Goo ‚Em Up

Shoo Goo is a skate shoe’s best friend. Maybe you’ve seen people patch holes in shoes with it, but a wise man hits the laces in crucial areas before you even start skating. If and when you do eventually get a hole clean through to your sock, here’s an easy patch recipe: Take a skate sticker, cut or tear it big enough to cover the hole. Stick the sticker on the inside of the shoe, sticky side out. Then, put the Shoo Goo on the outside of the shoe, covering the now-sticker-filled hole. Use enough Shoo Goo to fully cover all the torn edges of the hole. The Shoo Goo will dry as almost a new layer of rubber—skate-ready!

Superglue the Seams

Another preventative measure: Put Superglue on the seems anywhere you’ll be flicking or Ollieing. Some skate shoe brands might triple-stitch, multi-layer material and/or glue the upper in these areas, but continuous skating will eventually rip these seams. Once a seam peels, your shoe is on a one-way trip to looking dumpy and getting a big hole. So Superglue those seams straight out the box and have that Shoo Goo ready at the first sign of daylight (through the shoe).

Keep ‚Em Clean

Your skate shoes are going to take you to all kinds of dirty corners of the city, dusty ditches and more. Clean ‚em up every once in a while with these basic techniques.

Take out the laces and insoles if possible and give them a good shaking, smacking and dust off outdoors. Set them aside. You can wash the laces by themselves in a washing machine.

Whether your shoes are canvas, suede, or leather, the cleaning recipe is the same: Warm water and laundry detergent. Mix it up in the sink, get a sponge or brush, and get to work. Clean ‚em best you can, then dry them outdoors, out of the sun. We’re not guaranteeing they’re going to look skateshop-new, but it will give you something a bit nicer to look down at on your next session. This Youtuber below has a pretty good tutorial—he got those Half Cabs lookin‘ damn near brand new!

Avoid washing machines and driers: Having your skate shoes clunk around in the washer might damage your machine and could alter the shape of your shoes. Do it by hand. Same with the insoles if you choose to wash those, too.

Skateboarding and Snowboarding Collide in Ambition Snowskate’s New Film ‚DEADLOCK‘

It’s not quite skateboarding, not quite snowboarding, but it’s definitely super rad. The Ambition Snowskates‘ squad strikes again in their new film, ‚DEADLOCK‘.

Ditch your trucks and wheels for a bit and hit the snowy streets in a different kind of way! Take a look:

I remember when Ambition dropped a similar video years ago and basically broke the internet. Personally, I had never seen „snowskating“ in my life, and I’ll admit I was certainly a bit skeptical. But all it took was the first few seconds—the spots they were hitting, the tricks they were doing—to see the obvious influence skateboarding had on this unique subculture.

To my pleasant surprise, it turned out that all of the dudes in the video were in fact skateboarders (honestly, it would’ve been hard to believe if they weren’t) and simply used snowskating as a way to get rad during the winter.

Related: Ambition Snowskates SAVA Full Video

Over the years, they’ve dropped plenty of other bangers and I’ll always tune in. I’m a legit fan at this point! I will say, it feels way more like you’re watching a skate video than a snowboarding video, that’s for sure. Not that there’s anything wrong with snowboarding, either. I just can’t relate to it as much!

But when I see dudes doing manuals on bright white pads and ollieing over handrails into snowy banks; or boardsliding out-rails and backside lipsliding icy ledges (all without trucks and wheels)—well, yeah… consider me intrigued!

I was actually able to try one of these out a few years back, too, and had no idea how hard they were to ride! These dudes make it look way too easy, it’s sort of mind-blowing. And with each video comes an insane amount of progression. Like, they’re literally doing gap-to-grinds (slides?) on legit handrails. It’s unreal.

Anyways, all I can say is you should seriously watch this video. I threw in one of their older clips above as well, in case you start to feel the same stoke I did when I first watched. Like I said… it’s not quite skateboarding, not quite snowboarding—but it sure is rad!
