Rodney Mullen and Tony Hawk Discuss Their Process of Trick Innovation

Tony Hawk and Rodney Mullen are taking NYC and Texas by storm with their two-stop tour, featuring a discussion around their presence and innovation in creating the history of skateboarding.

In Tony’s words “Rodney Mullen and I will be in NYC on 4/4 and Austin on 4/7 for first collaborative speaking gigs. We call our project “Darkslides and Secret Tapes” because we’ll be discussing our process of innovation (for tricks like Rodney’s revolutionary Darkslide) and our constant search for improving techniques in life and skating (or how we found our own metaphorical Secret Tapes). This idea was sparked nearly five years ago after we found ourselves doing similar speaking events, but rarely in the same place and never on our own terms. If you are interested in seeing how this experiment comes together, follow the links in my bio for ticket info.

Fun fact about this photo from a few years ago: my face and hands are blurry because I was struggling to hold a no-handed 50/50 just long enough for the pic. Rodney was poised as always; we are yin and yang personified”

A Look Back at the Construction of Rhodes Skatepark in Boise, ID

Boise Idaho is known for quite a lot of things; it’s the capital of the great potato state, there is a pretty big college in town, and it has one of the best skateparks known to man… Rhodes.

Rhodes skatepark was built back in 1995, by the prestigious Grindline Skateparks, one of the best in the concrete pouring game. And still, nearly 30 years later the Rhodes Park skates like it was just poured yesterday.

Grindline recently posted a photo collage of the building stages of Rhodes, and let us just say it makes this place even more special, check it out below!
