Huge drops and big banks, Uruguay’s Fabricio Abreu gets his adrenaline fix on psychotic Spanish spots.
Pawnshop skate shop is undeniably one of the raddest shops around. Between their tight ties to the community and all the support and events they put on for their local scene, they’ve always been on our radar as one of the most respected core skate shops out there.
And now they can add „opening a skatepark“ to their list of givebacks, as Covina, California recently cut the ribbon on what the locals are respectfully calling the Pawnshop Skate Park.

In an article on StreetblogLA, they mention some insider info, „The new park is located at the western tip of Kahler-Russell Park, more commonly known as Wingate Park. For locals, it’s where the strawberry stand used to be, on Grand Avenue. This skatepark has been in the works for years, and seems meant to foster the next generation of Covina’s prominent skate scene.“

The park looks insanely fun and definitely has a little something for everyone. But more importantly, the local skate scene—and community as a whole—is clearly fired up about having such a rad park in the neighborhood.
Big ups to Pawnshop, the city of Covina and every person, skater or supporter who was involved in making this happen. I’m personally itching to get up there and take a few laps myself! It’s just another reminder to always support your local skate shop. They’re constantly on the frontlines of the community, fighting the good fights, making stuff happen for the sake of skateboarding.

From genius tips to avoiding common mistakes, the crew at Keen Ramps is always ready to help with constructing your own DIY ramp (or one of their many easy-to-build ramps all the same). In a recent video, they reveal 5 crucial ramp hacks that will make building a breeze. The more you know, right!? Take some notes and get ready to elevate your ramp-building game! Check it out:
Someone in the comments said, „Love these ramp build videos. My first carpentry gig was building ramps about 35 years ago. A lot of great info you present here. The hammer claw push/pull trick is priceless, works with nails also, and can be used to align lots of stuff, including much bigger structures, and great for untweeking bowed lumber.“

Hey, as far as I’m concerned, if that guy commenting has been doing carpentry for 35 years and finds these tips helpful, I’d say enough said. Carpenters aren’t always the friendliest dudes in that sense either (every one of them knows more than the next guy, right?) so to hear that is pretty rad. What would you expect, though? The Keen crew are absolute pros.
If anything, these videos definitely spark a little motivation to get building! The DIY spirit is alive and well and these dudes are helping keeping that flame lit. Love to see it. Makes me wish I didn’t live in a tiny ass apartment complex and had some space to build some stuff myself, but I guess that’s neither here nor there.
At any rate, get out there and make it happen! Thanks as always to Keen for the advice.
