Skullcandy’s „Crusher Cup“ Event

Daniel Wheatley recently shared a teaser for his upcoming video, Blanket and it looks to me like it has an absolutely stacked lineup, to say the least. It was actually pretty funny (and clever) that he hit us with all those names at the beginning of the clip… only to say, „…all have been really busy!“
Nick Michel, Reynolds, Jerry Hsu, Manchild… geez! But in fairness, he follows it up with, „But, we definitely got…“ and that list is still just as impressive in its own right. If you’re wondering, „Uh… what?“ just watch the trailer!
Regardless, I think there’s going to be a variety of heavy cameos from your favorite skaters and their favorite skaters, with full parts from Matlok Bennett Jones and Mingus Gamble secured (well, at least that’s what the YouTube description tells us).
The trailer looks sick, though. I like the direction Wheatley is taking it for sure. Not everyone can pull off a skate video teaser with no skating, but for whatever reason, it really works here. Consider me fired up! With a star-studded cast like this, I’ll take it.

Like the video mentions, hopefully all these heavy-hitters can come through with some clips in the next month or so—can you imagine if everyone listed here really made the cut? Again, either way, it looks like it’s going to be a great independent skate video. We’re ready.

The Desert Skate Ranch, located in the middle of California’s Mojave Desert, has been around for a few years. Recently, this little gem came under new ownership, with Cory Keen (of Keen Ramps) and all-around ripping human, TJ Gaskill steering the ship and making some major improvements to the place.
They’ve been putting in a ton of work to make this already epic skateboarding dreamland even more epic and are prepared to launch DSR 2.0 this Fall!

Aside from adding new stuff to skate (like the DeathMatch mini ramp above), they’re also staying busy building roads, carving out campsites and generally revamping the place to accommodate the masses that will surely flock to this incredible place. Because as rad as this mini ramp looks… there’s an entire concrete park to rip around on as well. Check it below:

The DIY spirit is alive and well out there in the desert—in fact, it’s thriving—and these dudes know first hand that the old saying, „If you build it, they will come“ is all too true. Really, though… if there’s ever been a place to grab your friends and go on a skateboarding field trip, this is the place.

Just seeing these pictures and videos (and really, all the incredible work and progress these dudes have been making) gets my leg revving like crazy. Skating, camping, live music, fire pits, BBQ—again, it’s simply paradise.
If you aren’t following the Ranch on Instagram (@desertskateranch), be sure to click on over and do it. They’re posting updates pretty consistently and we’ll certainly be doing the same over here.
Above all, if you happen to find yourself over there before their official launch, be respectful, pick up your trash and simply put: don’t be lame! These guys are putting in a lot of time and energy to make this place rad for everyone to enjoy, so let’s give them the same respect back. Keep up the good work, dudes! This is epic.

Our pals Mitch and Steve over at Dead Air Radio recently did a rundown on our latest two-part SkateHoarders episode with Dave Skoot and took the time to dig a little deeper into Dave’s impressive board collection, as well as provide some fun stories about Dave since they’re all close friends.
Stuff like this is always fun and these dudes definitely have stories for days. If you enjoyed the episodes, you’ll get a kick out of this. Dive in!
In the caption of the video, Dead Air Radio mentions:
„Last week TransWorld released 2 episodes of SkateHoarders revolving around Dave Skoot, a Staten Island native who Steve and Mitch know really well. Steve gets into the behind the scenes of the episode, along with Mitch and Steve sharing stories about Dave.“
This is some true skate nerd stuff right here! And we love it. As skateboarders, we all have collections of our own—large and small—and we can all relate to sitting around and swapping similar stories with our homies just like this. Shout out to Mitch and Steve for diving into the episode! So rad. And thanks again to Dave for taking the time to share his collection in the first place.
More SkateHoarders coming soon…

Slave is certainly one of those brands who have stayed one-hundred percent true to their roots since Day 1. And it just so happens that Day 1 was actually 17 years ago, if you can believe it or not. I remember when they first hit the skate world like it was yesterday, and in my opinion, they’ve never missed. So, to celebrate their 17th birthday, Slave hit us with a new graphic—and once again, they nailed it. Take a look:

Ben Horton’s style of art is definitely one of the most recognizable styles as far as skateboarding is concerned (and really just in general) and I have genuinely admired the fact that there’s always been a meaning behind each board graphic and series—whether slightly cryptic or clear as day.

And the fact that the team is still stacked with some of the most highly-respected, low-key rippers on the planet only adds to the allure of this iconic brand. Anthony Schultz, AJ Zavala, Danny Dicola, Pat Burke, Logan Taylor… Mumford! I mean, come on. These dudes are blue-collar powerhouses and I’ve always respected them all on and off the board.
Plus… their skating speaks for itself! These dudes are heavy. Simple as that. No argument.
Honestly, I can’t believe it’s been 17 years. That’s heavy! Congrats to Ben Horton, the entire team and anyone who has contributed one way or another over the past almost two decades. 17 years is no small feat in this tricky skateboarding world. Nor is staying as true as they have. Now go watch Radio Television and skate some crust! Or take a trip back in time and watch some of these ripping edits.

Rose Street (Encinitas, California) and Pharmacy (Victorville, California) dropped their edits for the X Games Showdown this morning kicking off the third round with a bang. We’re big fans of both these shops and I have to say, this round is a tough one. Two different vibes—both absolutely ripping!
With hungry up-and-comers pulling for each squad, these edits are total bangers from start to finish. Check them below:

If you feel like supporting, you have 24 hours to vote for your favorite edit here. Also, I was a day late and a dime short on getting up the Westside (Florida) and Black Sheep (North Carolina) edits up, but I will say both shops rip and their teams really came through in Round 2!

We all know how important skate shops are to our local communities and to skateboarding itself, just in general. Many of these shops are a home away from home and act as hubs for skaters far and wide. And I mean, let’s be honest—hanging out at a skate shop is simply the best! While all these shops are going head-to-head, at the end of the day, it’s just skateboarding and the support from all directions is rad to see.
Watch the edits, get stoked and support your local! We’ll be posting a few more edits from Round 1 over the next few days.

Everyone loves Baker and Deathwish and both brands just hit us with some new boards and apparel for Summer ’24 that are bound to get you fired up. From new pro models to rad team graphics; shirts, hoodies, tees and hats for days… and some random little gems peppered in here and there—there’s a lot to consume and a lot to be hyped on. Take a look:

All the gear is available at skate shops worldwide as well as online, but we all know the best thing to do is hit your local and ask for your favorites by name! That’s what they’re there for after all, right?
//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js
Both drops look incredible and personally, I see more than a few graphics that are really calling my name. From their teams to their videos to their gear, all bases are covered when it comes to both brands. They’re always mixing it up, always keeping things fresh, but at the same time, continue to stay true to the timeless staples that will always be in season.
Summer is right around the corner, which means longer days, longer sessions and plenty of tricks to bag. Nothing left to say but grip up your fav and hit the streets. These clips aren’t going to stack themselves.
