Deza Skateboards New Full Length Video out of Mexico

This one’s packed with action from around the world. that first part from David Borges is going to knock your socks off and set the tone. It’s top notch skateboarding all the way through to the last part with Erick Silva. We got some words from Deza owner Shadi Charbel below the video.

We asked Deza’s owner Shadi Charbel to give us the lowdown on everything about this video and brand. Please read on, it’s well worth your time!

„We started filming for this video right when the pandemic started back in 2020, which was the very same year my friend Flo Marfaing decided to work with me and started riding for Deza Skateboards. The main idea of the skits was brought by a friend, Jesus Guerrero (IG: @elchuyesmicarnal) and his idea was based on me not being able to skate anymore and he wanted me to appear on the video somehow. We wrote a bunch of different ideas that we could film to make it happen. We had a great time filming the skits. I have a friend that is a cop and let me borrow his uniform to be the security guard, another friend of mine works for Fedex and let us borrow his van.

Right at the end, we didn’t have any more ideas for Erick Silvas‘ intro and suddenly my pitbull Madonna got crazy sick and passed away. Erick loved my dog and since he had filmed some clips with Madonna just to make a quick video for his social media, we ended up using all that and filmed a little more to make it fit in the actual video pretending that he was dreaming of her.

About the main intro, I’ve built a workshop right in my house all based on printing decks, clothing, wheels and Jesus wanted to use it all to introduce all the skaters and we all loved the outcome of it. Great memories from all those days of filming!

About the name of the video, NADA ES PARA SIEMPRE (nothing is forever), the idea is mine and it’s based on me not being able to do what I love the most, which was skating due to my knee surgeries. I pretty much had to accept the fact that I was never going to be able to become the skater I dreamed of at the age of 27. I believe that we all have to be prepared to let go when the time comes, and I loved the idea of expressing that message to everyone.

The first animation in the video is inspired by me and was made by my friend Luis Ponce.

This is Deza’s only full length video they’ve made. All Flo Marfaing’s part was filmed by Jordan Stanley over in Europe, mostly Spain. Danny Ruiz is the newest rider and he got his part filmed by his homies in El Paso, Texas. Richard Moore’s part was filmed 100% in the USA. The rest of the video was filmed all over Mexico.

Pepe Baeza @pepegangsta filmed and edited the video and skits.

Great Skateboarding Cities of the Summer: A History of Barcelona

Tyler Surrey, Enrique Lorenzo, Jose Roura, Anthony Claravall, Thomas Winkle and more break down the rich history of Spain’s skateboarding Mecca. From the classic spots we know today, going all the way back to the OG parks (Turo Park) and contests you might have never heard of. Tons of classic footage from the 70s to Ant Claravall’s tapes in the 90s to the present day rippers—even Tom Penny has a clip!

Great Skateboarding Cities: Barcelona (11:17)

Enrique breaks down the whole evolution of spots: From Sants in the 80s to Universitat in the 90s, and even the very first sessions at MACBA. Right when Parallel was built, it was a spot from the go. By the early aughts, word was out and the entire skate industry was renting apartments and houses for Spanish summers to take advantage of the skate-friendly architecture.

Shout out to Marcos Lozano and the @SNT_4_Ever association working to save the classic plaza. Follow them and donate if you can.

To finish the edit off we’ve got fresh footage from Marcos Lozano, Jose Roura (kicky back tails 24 years apart!), Pegatas, Stewie Petar, Dor Abu, Rodrigo Zaragoza, Adriel Parmesano, and our favorite transplant, Mr. Tyler Surrey, who gets it in and breaks down Barcelona’s thriving DIY scene.

Summer time gets hot! But luckily you can spend the hottest hours on beautiful beaches, then get a session on in the evening.

Huge thanks to Tyler Surrey for making this one happen.

Paul Kobriger—Skateboard Lifer, Artist, and Sixes and Sevens Shop Owner

You ought to know Paul Kobriger from his many years of working in the skateboard industry. From TransWorld to CCS to Sun Diego and many more—everywhere he worked he made better. And if you’ve ever skated with him, he probably blew your mind.

Present day Paul runs point on Sixes and Sevens two locations in San Diego county and is taking the art and music scene by storm with his impressive photo-realistic portraits and handmade frames. Check his whole story out below:

Video by the always talented Collin Schwartz

„Over 2,000 miles away and 36 years later, Paul Kobriger remains, at heart, a skateboard lifer dedicated to keeping his childhood dream alive. His journey began in Shawano, Wisconsin, where he was introduced to skateboarding and punk rock at age eleven—an influential combination that remains with him today. The decision to move across the country to San Diego, California, right after high school was a gamble. However, Paul arrived at the right moment, connected with the right people in skateboarding, and launched a deep career in the industry. His early beginnings started with leading Sun Diego and CCS marketing efforts and assembling teams with Wes Kremer, Tyler Surrey, Marius Syvänen, Silas Baxter-Neal, Torrey Pudwill, and Ryan Sheckler just to name a few. However, in the wake of the economic recession led to the end of CCS but a new chapter at TransWorld SKATEboarding. Being surrounded by creative people during his time at TWS sparked a hidden talent he’s always had and revealed his gifted ability at drawing. After working for numerous brands in the skateboard industry, Paul uses his years of experience to start something he can fully control. Thus, Sixes and Sevens skate shop is birthed and blends together Paul’s love for skateboarding, music, and art. Learn all the details of Paul’s path in skateboarding, the skaters he’s brought up, the people he’s met along the way, and the space created to give back to skateboarding in our latest CORE video above.“

Great Skateboarding Cities of the Summer: Copenhagen, Denmark is a Must Visit Destination

When it came to building a list of the greatest cities to visit in the summer, there’s no way Copenhagen wouldn’t be on that list. After our first visit to a Copenhagen Pro contest many years ago, we discovered all the rumors were true: The place is a skateboarding utopia. You can bicycle all over the city, everyone’s out and in a great mood, there’s Christiania, there’re canals to swim in, and it stays light until 11p.m.

Word quickly spread, CPH Pro turned into CPH Open, skate jams and contests were held all over the city, and every skateboarder in the world tried to make the trek to Denmark every summer.

For this mini doc, we tapped CPH’s own Simon Weyhe and Goodwind Studio to tell their story and they did an incredible job. Support CPH Skatepark and everything they do.

Kicking off a series we’re doing to highlight the best skateboarding cities of the summer is our own hometown and the birthplace of it all: San Diego. With interviews from Grant Brittain (one of TransWorld’s founders) to legendary pros Matt Hensley, Jason Carney, Willy Santos and more, here’s why San Diego has cemented a place in skateboarding history.

After the history lesson, settle into a montage from the new class of skaters from all over San Diego county: Noah Lora, Justice Lora, Jake Hofmann, Smiler Perez, Anthony Delgado, Nick Suarez, Marky McCoy and Tommy Sandoval.

Click It & Kick It: Shrimpdaddy On Video Editing and his „El Toro“ A.I. Movie

Click It & Kick It is back! For the first welcome back episode we go behind the scenes and in studio with Marque Cox aka Shrimpdaddy. Viral social media creator and mastermind of some of the funniest skateboard memes.

We rode bicycles across America together last summer for 33 days and that’s when I got to really know Shrimpdaddy. Seeing him film basic daily activities and making the most interesting edits of them was very inspiring. Every edit was gold. From a lightening storm to a dog chase, to a close up pedaling shot, the man is gifted with a talent of making cinematic magic.

This episode goes into what makes a good edit, how he makes his choices, and Marque’s new short A.I. movie about the legendary set of stairs, El Toro and the infamous backside kickflip. With A.I. software, Shrimpdaddy remixed Peter Parker (Spider Man) and the other characters in the movie acting as skaters/filmers to get sponsored by the biggest skateboard company and to win over a girl’s love by backside kickflipping El Toro.

Click It & Kick It: Shrimpdaddy (4:20)

Shrimpdaddy’s movie premiere is this Saturday and I highly recommend everyone go check it out. RSVP HERE
