35th North’s Iconic ‚All City Showdown‘ Makes a Triumphant Return After Eight Years

35th North is one of the dopest skate shops in the game, and with some support from Vans, there’s nothing they can’t do! Right!? Well, I’d have to say yes. The infamous ‚All City Showdown‘ retutned this year after an eight year hiatus, but if you ask me, it’s like it never left.

This is pure, raw skateboarding at its finest. This is community building at its finest. The concept rules, the skaters killed it. Ah, welcome back ACS! Press play and remind yourself what you’ve been missing. So rad.

In case you’re unfamiliar with the „All City Showdown“ concept, let’s let the dudes behind the scenes take the stage:

„35th North and Vans bring ACS BACK! After an eight year hiatus, the original true street skateboarding contest born in Seattle has returned. This year, 10 teams of four skaters each (three skating and one filming) had just eight hours to get footage on August 25th, 2024. This was the 12th year of ACS and the 1st year of its return since 2016!“

Personally, I was so stoked to see this contest return. It shot me back to the glory days of simply charging and skating with your homies, stacking clips and, most importantly, being on a legit mission. Can’t beat that!

Not only is a contest like this absolute fun for all involved, but it’s such a proper glimpse into a variety of low-key scenes across the country. Whether you’re here rooting for your favorite squad or just getting a taste of what’s going on elsewhere, this is such a rad concept and again, I’m so happy to see it return. Plus, I love 35th North. Seattle’s finest!

Vans and Carpet Co. Tease Exciting ‚Old Skool‘ Collaboration for Next Year

Vans and Carpet Co. are joining forces on a special ‚Old Skool‘ collaboration set to drop early next year and recently teased them for the first time on Instagram. The hype is already real. Just when you thought the shoe news was put to bed for the rest of the year… here we are! Take a look:

The caption simply says, „1977 pairs made for a reason!“ which is certainly fitting, but 1977 pairs of shoes isn’t that much, you know? All that tells me is these things are clearly going to be super limited and might be a little hard to cop. Get your affairs in order—these won’t last!

While the news of the shoes themselves is exciting enough, you gotta watch the video they made to hype the collaboration up. Peep it below. Can you name all the sneaky cameos? Absolutely hilarious. Yes, the nailed it.

I’m always down for a funny skit, so this was a real unexpected treat, if you ask me.

Well, in one of the captions, Vans mentions that the shoes are „coming soon“ but I have seen photos of people wearing them in their stories. We’ll just have to wait and see. But like I said, if you’re hoping to secure a pair yourself, stay on it!

Otherwise, what else can we say?

Be safe out there tonight and have a Happy New Year!

Pawnshop Skate Shop Teases First Look at Upcoming Vans Rowley Collaboration

Pawnshop, Geoff Rowley and Vans have a special collaboration in the works that is bound to get any skateboarder fired up. They recently hopped on Instagram to share a sneak peak of their new Rowley colorway and at first glance, the shoes look incredibly sick. This is major! Take a look:

//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js

„Believe it or not this is real—Geoff Rowley x Vans x Pawnshop. The Rowley. We know our town has a ton of stories and history with this shoe… It’s time to make some new ones with the wing & wheel embroidered on the back of one of the most iconic skate shoes ever,“ Pawnshop wrote on Instagram. „The works almost done and this is the road crew that put in the hours. Thank you Vans Skateboarding. Release info soon.“

Rowley was in the comments of the post saying, „Thanks for the solid session. I needed it. Great store since forever!“ Real recognize real and Pawnshop is as real as it gets. Glad to know that Geoff and the Pawn squad went out there and put the shoes to the test the right way.

As far as the branding, the subtle little wing and wheel hit on the heel is such a perfect touch. Doesn’t matter if your a Pawnshop local or living on the other side of the country—these shoes are for skateboarders, by skateboarders. And let’s be real…they just look sick!

While I don’t know when the shoes will actually be available, you can bet I’ll keep my eyes peeled for more info. Shoutout to Pawnshop, Rowley and Vans for coming together and making something so rad. Great colorway. Great people. I have to imagine these things will be flying off the shelves. Get ready!

Get Your First Look at the Limited OTW by Vans X Piet Parra Suede Half Cab

OTW by Vans has collaborated with renowned Dutch artist Piet Parra to revisit the iconic Vans Half Cab (which just so happened to be Parra’s go-to skate shoe in the early ‘90s when he skated professionally for Vans in the Netherlands) in a pretty unique way. Check these things out!

//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js

„The OTW by Vans x Piet Parra Suede Half Cab brings Parra’s signature vibrant aesthetic to life with contrasting premium suede panels, featuring fluid, undulating cutouts that distort the shoe’s original lines, reflecting the dynamic, organic style seen in Parra’s artwork,“ Vans mentions in the caption.

Honestly, say what you want, but I think these look so rad! They’re bold, bright and the way Curren makes them look while he’s skating in the video above was enough to officially seal the deal for me. That said, I have a feeling the majority of folks who purchase these probably aren’t going to skate them—but you should!

A little about Parra:

„Dutch artist Parra (1976) is best known for his surreal bird-like characters and distinctive use of saturated colours. His early work explored vibrant hand-drawn letters and humor, in recent years, his work has evolved into gorgeously layered abstract interpretations of his core figures.“

Now, the Half Cab has been „revisited“ countless times over the years, and in fairness, who can blame any of the folks who have been lucky enough to add their own personal touch to the iconic shoe? Style, function, comfort, durability—they’re simply good shoes. No debate. But I’m really liking Parra’s direction here. It’s a pretty refreshing approach, if you ask me. And this also isn’t the first time Vans has worked with the Dutch artist.

The shoes are officially available today, September 24th on otw.vans.com. I know they might not be for everyone, but keep in mind—they are limited. If you want a pair, you should get on it. Skate ‚em or don’t, that’s on you. Oh, and just FYI, even the box they come in is sick. GTWYC!

Geoff Rowley and Vans Drop Limited Colorway of Rowley’s First Signature Shoe with Labor Skate Shop

Geoff Rowley, Vans and one of New York’s finest skate shops, Labor came together to produce a super limited run of Rowley’s iconic first Vans shoe in an exclusive yellow colorway. The shoes are only available at Labor (and their site) so if you want a pair—act fast!

„One of the original primary colors sampled for my first signature shoe with Vans that was never sold,“ Rowley mentions in the caption. Get a closer look below. These look rad!

//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js

I’m so stoked that Rowley shared those contest clips, because I’m sure like many of you, they’ve all been tattooed on my brain for decades now. That is some classic Rowley right there, and I fully remember wondering why this specific colorway never existed back then. The nostalgia is all too real!

Rowley joining Toy Machine was one of the biggest plot twists of the year so far, and with the limited release of these iconic shoes, I’m just stoked to be seeing more of this legend on the frontlines right now. He’s always been—and always will be—one of my favs.

As mentioned, the shoes are only available at Labor or laborskateshop.com. They’re super limited and will probably sell out pretty fast… so GTWYC!

Palace and Vans Tease New Shoe Collaboration on the Iconic Era Silhouette

We live in a collaborative world, and there’s certainly no shortage of brands out there who have the potential to link up and make some magic.

While we’re on the subject, Palace and Vans recently posted a teaser of a new shoe collab that’s in the works and as always, there’s a variety of opinions out there stemming from all directions. But first things first—take a look:

//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js

What are your thoughts? Personally, I think they look okay, but that could very well be because they pretty much just look like Eras with a Palace hit on the heel. I’ve worn Eras for years, skated plenty of them… they’re fine. They’re also usually pretty easy on the wallet, though! I’m not sure what these will be retailing for, but „collab“ shoes typically come with a mark up. Hey… who knows?

Regardless, there are just as many people in the comments who are stoked and asking when they drop as there are, well, folks who aren’t. There are definitely some die hard Palace fans out there, and Palace—just as a brand—is obviously no stranger to collabs. They’ve done a lot… and they will do a lot more. Again, no problem. But some do tend to make more sense than others.

No news on release dates (or really anything else) as of now, but keep your eyes peeled and we’ll do the same. In the meantime, consider this a conversation starter. And in fairness, the caption is very Palace-esque and simply says:

• SOME

• PALACE

• VANS

• BASICALLY

They aren’t lying! Hate ‚em or love ‚em, they’ll be dropping soon.

Vans X Rowan Zorilla Are Back With an Update to the OG Rowan Shoe

A few years back Rowan Zorilla dropped his pro model shoe with Vans; the Rowan. This shoe quickly became a favorite of skaters, and its design looked a bit more unique compared to Vans usual skate shoes, something the public took a liking to.

On October 6th, 2023 Vans shared a post of the fresh Rowan round two shoes project to drop in the near future, check out the design below!

//platform.instagram.com/en_US/embeds.js

Although a specific date hasn’t been released yet, these fresh electric Vans Rowan’s should be hitting shelves here soon. Lovers of the OG Rowan can look forward to the added ImpactWaffle, which adds the right amount of cushion in the spots that need it the most!
