Kevin „Spanky“ Long is an absolute gentleman. Any time he posts a new clip on Instagram, I naturally stop what I’m doing and indulge. So that fact that he just dropped an entire new video part in support of his new ACE Limited truck has me about as fired up as can be. What are you waiting for? Press play:

As much as I hate cliches, the dude is aging like fine wine. What else do you want me to say? His creativity is always on full display, whether he’s out stacking clips or just goofing around with his bros. The way he looks at spots is a little different than the average Joe—it’s always been that way—and that’s just one of the many reasons he’ll forever be one of the greats.

If you needed some weekend motivation, look no further. This part was filmed over the past two years, with spots from France, Spain, Los Angeles and beyond peppered in. I love that he’s still traveling, still skating, still inspiring and still having so much fun on his board. It truly shows.

Spanky is a lifer. Simple as that. He’s not doing any of this because he has to—it’s because he wants to. Again…it truly shows. And all the while, he’s still cranking out amazing Baker graphics left and right. What a guy! 

There are too many incredible tricks to even call out here. Stop listening to me and watch the video. In fact, watch it again and again and again… I’ll do the same. Yeah, Spanky!

Van Wastell’s brother Eddie is an awesome human and every year on Van’s birthday (April 22nd) and the anniversary of his passing (September 6th) he compiles a ton of footage and whips up some epic tribute edits for his late brother. 

This year, he doubled down and threw some Dylan Rieder footage in the mix, as Dylan and Van were close friends who both left us far too soon. These edits are ALWAYS worth a watch and bring back some fantastic memories. Take a look:

The influence these two had on skateboarding was unmatched. They were both so loved and admired, on and off the board, and revisiting some of these clips is pretty unreal. Pure, genuine talent. Both of them. They truly left a permanent mark on the skateboarding community.

And even though they left us all way too soon, the time they spent here—and the time they spent together—will forever be cherished. Thousands of miles between these two, with timeless video parts and clips to prove it.

Nice work as always, Eddie! These edits are always a bittersweet treat. But I’ll tell you what—they always bring a smile to my face, along with countless others. And even though I didn’t know either of them personally, I always was—and forever will be—a true, genuine fan of their skateboarding, positive attitudes, and fearlessness to do things their own way. 

Often imitated, never replicated. Get out there and have a session for these two today. Tell your friends and family you love them. Have fun. Don’t take things so seriously. It’s the least we can do.

Bronson „Regional Ripper“ and Travel skate shop rider, Derek Patterson stacks some bangin‘ clips from LA to NYC in his new video part. Derek is always on fire and there are some serious gems up in here. Press play and get fired up:

Derek hails from the streets of New Jersey and is holding it down for his local shop, Travel (Rahway, NJ). This hungry up-and-comer is proving he has what it takes to make a name for himself, and if keeps it up, I’m certain we’ll be seeing much more of this East Coaster in the future.

This whole edit was stacked with flavor—skating, spots and soundtrack were all on point. Derek isn’t scared to step to some pretty crusty terrain and that’s something I’ll always admire about skaters like him. Some of these spots are pretty debatable, but he kept on stacking. That drop-in hardflip, for example… unreal! And his ender is absolutely buck. 

Between his deep bag of tricks and east-coast-powerhouse style, Derek is doing big things and deserves the recognition he’s receiving. Keep the fire burning! Sick part, sick part.

Friend of TWS, Markus Bengtsson sent us over this awesome video he recently shot during the EHM [Event Horizon Malmö] exhibition by Koo Jeong A at Malmö Konsthall. Markus and a handful of skaters had the opportunity to skate inside the Malmö Art Gallery on a super unique, well-crafted skateable installation and the sessions looked pretty unreal. Take a look:

How fun does this setup look? This is definitely one of those once in a lifetime sessions. I mean, really, when else are you going to get to skate inside the Malmö Art Gallery!? From concept to completion, I’d say this was quite a success. There’s just something about skating a perfect little bowl inside of an art gallery that makes me a little envious. Anyone else? And Markus did an incredible job capturing the vibes.

What is the ‚OooOoO Malmö‘ Exhibition?

„EHM [Event Horizon Malmö], the summer 2024 exhibition at Malmö Konsthall, consisted of ”OooOoO Malmö” (2024): a skateable sculpture constructed entirely of wood. The Korean artist KOO JEONG A, who represents South Korea at this year’s Venice Biennale, worked with Malmö Konsthall’s distinctive exhibition space and created a star-shaped sculpture wedged between the building’s supporting columns. Malmö Konsthall built the exhibition upon the vision of architect Klas Anshelm to use the space as a playing field for artistic experimentation. It was also an invitation to the unique skate community of Malmö that gathered on the square outside the Konsthall during the summer months.“ 

Respect to Markus and this crew for seizing the moment and sharing it for all of us to enjoy. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again—you just never know where this goofy little wooden toy with wheels can take you! Keep exploring, and never stop searching.
