Todd Francis Talks Early Antihero Days and More on Living Proof Radio

Ladies and gentlemen, meet the man behind the truly iconic Antihero Skateboards ‚Eagle‘ graphic, Todd Francis. Beyond his contributions to skateboarding, Todd is an absolute legend in the art world, just in general. I’m proud to say I’ve always been a fan of his work. And although I pretty much have to mention the Eagle, I’m barely scratching the surface here.

Always humorous, always thought-provoking, edgy, raw, the dude just has one of those rare minds. Living Proof Radio recently caught up with Todd to discuss a variety of topics, but I’ll just say, when you get a chance to hear from a dude like this… you should tune in. Trust me. Press play and enjoy:

„Todd Francis is a renowned artist, perhaps best known for creating the Anti-Hero Skateboards eagle logo, one of the most recognized symbols in skateboarding. His work often combines humor, social commentary, and a gritty aesthetic, resonating deeply with skaters who embrace skateboarding as a countercultural expression,“ Living Proof mentions.

„The Anti-Hero eagle logo, designed by Todd Francis, encapsulates the brand’s identity: raw, uncompromising, and steeped in skateboarding’s punk ethos. The design is simple yet powerful, featuring a fierce eagle clutching a ribbon with the brand name. The eagle logo is instantly recognizable, even beyond skateboarding.“

Todd has seen Antihero unfold since the early, early days and as he talks about in this episode, the dude clearly still has so much gas in the tank. Between him, Julien Stranger, Cardiel and the entire 18 squad, I can only imagine how fun some of these conversations must be when planning graphics and really anything they do.

I love the history lesson we get here, too. Honestly, I could listen to these stories for days! There aren’t many other brands out there who have kept it as real as Antihero over the decades. They have never faked the funk and continue to care about the brand in such a genuine, admirable way.

Anyways, I’m not gonna spoil anything here, because I genuinely think you should tune in and listen to this entire hour. I guarantee you’ll be wanting more. I sure as hell do.

Todd’s art has left a lasting impact on skateboarding culture, one that is honestly almost hard to fathom. Shoutout to Todd, Antihero and all the real ones who care about keeping it real and staying true to their ethos. Go set up an Eagle board!
