Ongoing Backyard Ramp Dispute in Vista, California Ends Positively for Skateboarders

Skateboarding has gained so much popularity in recent decades that most kids getting into it these days probably don’t realize how much people used to downright hate it. Hey, I got my fair share of it growing up but the times are certainly changing.

Skateparks and the Olympics have definitely helped shift that perception, along with countless other things, but that doesn’t mean random disputes like this little debacle (reported on by Fox 5) involving pro skater, Evandro Mancha and his backyard vert ramp don’t still linger to this day. Take a look:

I mean, I’m not here to argue, but the ramp has been there for over a decade. If any of the folks complaining in court (or elsewhere) moved to the neighborhood anytime within the past 10 years or less, well, they sort of knew what they were getting themselves into, right? It’s like moving to a bustling downtown and complaining about the noise. Bruh

Mancha is a well-respected skateboarder in the community nonetheless and I’m super stoked that he won this silly dispute. Anyone who knows him simply knows he’s the best dude—full of happiness and positivity—so I’d say this win was well deserved. He might have a few more rules and regulations to deal with now, but it would’ve been heartbreaking to see that ramp destroyed or removed.

Big ups to Mancha and all his friends, family and local skaters who showed up for him in court. Skateboarders will always support skateboarders and that effort will never go unnoticed.

Sure, trash day might be a bit more awkward now—„Hey, neighbor!“—but all’s well that ends well. Sounds to me like a celebratory session is in order!
